Christianity is different from every other religion because you worship SomeOne and not SomeThing.

I often ponder the differences between the major religions. I’m beyond convinced that Jesus is the Only God and the Only way to eternal life.

Though, I realize many people who worship other “gods” firmly believe that their religion is the truth. It’s easy to get lost in a sea of spiritual options and not know which one is really “THE Way”. So let me take a minute to explain the major difference between Christianity and everything else.

Last night, I laid in bed, tears streaming down my face as I sang along with Christian worship music. As I laid there, it dawned on me how everyone in the music video I was watching was doing the same. Dozens of people were moved to tears and adoration by an invisible being they had never met face to face.

You have to admit, in a world that is hyper obsessed with focusing on the “logical” things of life and the things we can see, that is a unusual experience.

So, what moved me and all these other people outside of the reality we can see with our eyes into a world full of supernatural possibility?

That’s easy. Love.

Jesus IS alive. The grave did not hold Him down. Because that’s true, anyone who is a Christian can have a living, loving relationship with Him. The fact that Christians can be moved to tears with their adoration of Christ shows you that there truly is SOMEONE there to worship. You cant fall in love with an inanimate object. You can’t fall in love with someone you never hear speak.

Only Jesus is the Living God and only He can bring a believer into a relationship with Himself.

So where does that leave everyone else? Rituals.

When you serve a false god, or a god that doesn’t exist, you fill your life with rituals. You fill your time with activities that make you feel holy, because you know nothing you do can truly make you holy.

You pray at certain times, eat certain things and wear certain clothes all because you don’t have a god that is alive in a living, intimate relationship with you.

That is the main difference between Christianity and everything else.

Christians are made holy by a loving God who wants them to spend their lives getting to know Him.

Everyone else tries to be holy because they don’t worship a living god who can rescue them from sin. Ultimately, they spend their lives worshipping themselves, i.e. the god of their pride, when they choose rituals and emptiness over love and connection with Christ.

Friend, if you’re reading this, I want to consider something. Jesus made it very clear that “no one comes to the father except through Me.” He is the only way to forgiveness, eternal life and unimaginable love.

You owe it to yourself to give Jesus a chance. I promise He is worth taking the risk. Open your heart to the possibility that there IS a good God that really died for you and truly loves you and WANTS to save you.

Stop believing the lie that you can “Hail Mary” your way to heaven. Stop trying to prove your righteousness and allow Jesus to make you righteous. I promise you, letting go of the pressure to make yourself good enough for God is the most liberating thing you’ll ever do.

Jesus knew you were a sinner when He died for you. He knew you could never be good enough to earn life in paradise. Yet, He still died for you. He didn’t die because you were kind of good and needed a little extra help. He didn’t die for all those “other, really bad” people. He died for you and for me.

His resurrection was proof He is God AND a God that wants to have a relationship with His children. He is alive. Pick up The Bible and talk to Him today. You won’t regret it.
